LA story !

La Story
Little Bob
Denoël X-trême
2010

That's done, enjoy Mihaleez :

With the Ari Kaurismaki's film "Le Havre" out at the end of 2011, and awarded by the Prix Louis Delluc, Little Bob has renewed interest in recent months.
The opportunity to (re) discovers this fascinating book.

"La" story ...why? Regarding Little Bob, "LB story" should have been probably more appropriated ...
But our favorite rocker from Le Havre has chosen to signify the uniqueness and truthfull of its history, and therefore entitled his biography LA story. Little game with words in passing ...

This book of 241 pages (plus discography) published in October 2010 was co-written with Christian Eudeline, (rock author and collaborator of such magazine such Rock & folk), and a preface by Jean-Bernard Pouy (french author of the polar serie "The Octopus", big fan incidentally), is a great rock book .

He not only tells of the wanderings of one of the oldest 'national' rockers, which always plays, and who lived all the great times, from the 60s to today, but it also gives to understand some parallel rock history, that of the French's underground rock. Understand: the real one, who never (or hardly) concessions, while sprinkling his narrative explanations and accounts of a "on the road"rock band's life.

Many indeed are the musicians or producers that Little Bob (Roberto Piazza, an Italian immigrant, now aged 65) met throughout his career, and all these characters or mythical places are described, in great detail.
The notes also refer on footer at further explanations, for the uninitiated.

We will cross The Animals, Little Richard, Pretty things, Mink de Ville, Elliot Murphy, Doctor Feelgood, Duke deluxe, the french The Dogs, Fixed up, City Kids, and so on ...
We will go to Marquee in England, Madagascar, the United States ... to end (There Is No End!? ...) with the experience of Ari Kaurismaki's film. *

All this is rich and raises LA Story as an essential book for understanding the rock, broadly, how it is experienced live, and how France could live it up today.

The economic aspect is also widely discussed, as Little Bob has his feet on earth and has managed his career in a rather precise way, (helped by a lot of people, including Mimie, his wife since 2001), giving his story a lot of detail on concert dates, cost of producing or manufacturing records, relations with the community, the press .. etc..

More than the story of Little Bob, this is the story of a certain rock, THE ROCK!

(*) Superb film that any fan of film and rock should see. Little bob sang a small role near the end, and is filmed with his band in the process of interpreting the title "Libero".
