Like many R'n'Blues fans, I actually had the chance to put my hands on the CD reissue of this wild live performance back in the mid eightties. This is without doubt one of the coolest R'n'blues live lp to came out in the sixties. Two stars with great voice and superb guitar playing ! As I was listening to some records at home, I passed upon this lp a friend of mine sold me some years ago for some francs.
Yan Tregger is known by afficionados for movie soundtracks, and not Blockbusters, believe me. Last week I tried to listen to an horror movie soundtrack from this guy : ("Bloodnight", 1982), and I rapidely deleted it after dowloading, because of its lack of interest.
But this one is not made of this shape. Rather an imaginary movie soundtrack than a real one, this is (and after Groovecollector.com) :
"A killer... fuzzy & groovy jerks LP, french killer instrumentation with enormous breaks on this orchestral instrumental pop psycho 70's ."

The original first (and really rare) edition (was) on Neuilly white press. It exists also on other cheap press on crea sound ... so this is the one I share today with you.

Some records need more time to get apprehended, giving all their richness after some playings. That's the case of this compilation, wich at first sight might be compared to a Sam Cooke's one. Same kind of voice, and parallel melodies...
But this is not Sam Cooke, and the full album is more than a simple plagiarism.
After three playings, I must admit that this is a very good album, and Dee Clark a great artist ! But poor me ! : that was just what was wrote on the sleeve's notes.
...Une superbe compilation d'un artiste peu (re) connu mais très appréciable, à la voix aigue pouvant par moment laisser entendre le regretté Sam Cooke. Belle diversité de titres ballade, up tempo et de Doo wop, pleins de charme early sixties. (1958-62)
..."Chanteur et compositeur imprégné par le Gospel, Dee CLARK (1938-1990) fut l’un des précurseurs de la Soul de Chicago, ouvrant dans les années 60 une voix royale aux futurs grands noms du style, comme Curtis Mayfiled, Jerry Butler, Major Lance ou encore Gene Chandler. Malheureusement souvent oublié dans l’histoire du R&B, Dee CLARK reste surtout présent dans les mémoires pour son titre "Raindrops" qu’il composa en 1961 et qui classé n°1 s’écoula à plus d’un million d’exemplaires."
